Liverpool vs Man City: Defender, Alexander-Arnold admits handling the ball

November 11, 2019 Loadedrace 0

Liverpool defender, Trent Alexander-Arnold has admitted that the ball struck his arm during their 3-1 win over Manchester City on Sunday. The England international said he was worried about being penalised, especially with the use of VAR. With Man City on the attack, the ball appeared to have hit the hand of the right-back in the Liverpool area. The incident led to huge protests from City players. However, the Referee ignored and Liverpool broke down the other end leading to Fabinho’s opening goal. VAR checked the handball decision and agreed with the referee, allowing Fabinho’s goal to stand. “I think it [the ball] might have hit my arm but it hit Bernardo Silva’s first,” Alexander-Arnold told Sky Sports. “You have to carry on playing, they complained but you have to keep on playing.” City boss, Pep Guardiola was furious with the decision and was said to be asking TV officials in the tunnel at half-time why it wasn’t awarded. Serie A: Sarri reveals why he keeps substituting Cristiano Ronaldo

November 11, 2019 Loadedrace 0

Juventus manager, Maurizio Sarri, has claimed that he regularly substitutes Cristiano Ronaldo, because of ongoing fitness issues. Ronaldo was replaced by Paulo Dybala in the 55th minute during Juve’s Serie A clash with AC Milan and immediately made his way up the tunnel. Reports in Italy also suggested the 34-year-old left the stadium three minutes to the end of the match. Ronaldo was also replaced midweek in the Champions League. “We must thank Ronaldo, because he made a sacrifice to be there at all tonight in a difficult situation. “He did everything possible to play, but I saw he was not well and thought it best to take him off. It’s only natural a player is going to be irritated to leave the pitch, especially when he worked so hard to be there. “Over the last month, he has had this little knee problem, he had a knock in training and it hurt the collateral ligament. When he trains at high intensity or plays, it unbalances him, so he ends up overcompensating and it damages the calf and thigh muscles. “It is affecting his performances and he is not at his best at the moment. All players who are trying to give their best will have at least five minutes of being annoyed when they are substituted, but a coach would in general be much more worried if he didn’t seem upset,” Sarri told Sky Sport Italia post-match. EPL: Mourinho reveals concern about Chelsea under Lampard ahead of Man City clash

November 11, 2019 Loadedrace 0

Jose Mourinho has praised Frank Lampard’s impact, after Chelsea recorded their sixth straight victory in the Premier League, with a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday. The Blues have recovered from the 4-0 defeat they suffered against Manchester United at Old Trafford on the opening weekend and are currently thrid in the table, eight points behind current leaders Liverpool. Despite their sensational form, Mourinho is worried about how Chelsea will perform in big games this season. He told Sky Sports: “In the first weekend I was worried and I’m still worried with the big matches. I think fantastic work. The kids coming into the team are fitting amazingly well with the top class players like Willian and Kante. “I think really, really great work by Frank. But, they lost twice against United, they lost against Liverpool at home. “They conceded four goals against Ajax and I’m very, very curious to see Chelsea in the next match at the Etihad. “I’m curious to see if they found that great empathy between the good football they play and the pragmatism that the top teams must have to play against top teams. “When they find that I think they have a great team for the future. I don’t believe in them to finish top two, but I believe very seriously for them to finish top four.” (function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = ‘https://connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v3.2&appId=420332301344305&autoLogAppEvents=1’; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = ‘https://connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v3.2&appId=181005951975036&autoLogAppEvents=1’; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

Former Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has said Manchester City and Pep Guardiola will be “devastated”, following their defeat to Premier League title rivals Liverpool. The Premier League champions were beaten 3-1 at Anfield on Sunday afternoon to slip nine points behind the Reds. Fabinho, Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane all scored for the hosts, before Bernardo Silva pulled one back. “First of all, to lose a big game is terrible. “You saw the reactions from both of the managers tonight. You can see the pressure they are under and how much a game like that means to both of them. “Pep will go home and be absolutely devastated, more than you think. If you think a quantity, add 100% and you might get close to that. “Overall, nine points is too big a difference for Man City after 12 games,” Wenger told beIN Sports. EPL: Mourinho reveals why Liverpool may not win title after 3-1 win over Man City

Former Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, has said Liverpool are as good as Premier League champions, except they suffer injury issues in the course of the season. The Reds opened an eight-point lead at the top of the table, with a 3-1 win over Manchester City on Sunday. Fabinho, Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane all netted for Jurgen Klopp’s side, before Bernardo Silva grabbed a late consolation. “From my position I think it’s done unless something, something dramatic happens in terms of an injury situation that breaks the team. “I think this Liverpool team… it’s adapted to the quality of the players and the puzzle is complete. “City are capable of winning seven, eight, nine in a row but I can’t see how Liverpool can lose this advantage,” Mourinho told Sky Sports. EPL: Gary Neville rates Firmino in English League

Manchester United legend, Gary Neville, has shockingly described Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino as the best centre-forward in the Premier League. Liverpool defeated Premier League holders, Manchester City 3-1 on Sunday at Anfield, stretching their lead at the top of the table to eight points. The goals came from Fabinho, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, but it was Firmino who Neville singled out for praise after another fantastic performance from the Brazilian. The Brazilian’s work-rate and link-up play was fantastic, as usual, and Neville believes he is a better centre-forward than Sergio Aguero, who again failed to score at Anfield. “Liverpool’s front three are magical, they’re a joy to watch,” Neville told Sky Sports. “I think he’s the best centre forward in the league, Firmino. If you said to me you can have one centre-forward to have in your team, it would be him.” Firmino has not been prolific this season, with three goals in 18 appearances across all competitions He has managed 69 goals in 210 appearances for the Reds. EPL: Clattenburg reveals why Oliver, VAR didn’t award Man City penalty in 3-1 loss to Liverpool

November 10, 2019 Loadedrace 0

Former Premier League referee, Mark Clattenburg, has explained why referee and Video Assistant Referee (VAR), did not award Manchester City a penalty for handball, during their 3-1 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday. Shortly before the Reds took the lead through Fabinho, the ball appeared to strike Trent Alexander-Arnold’s arm, but Oliver waved on play. Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane scored further, as Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the table. Clattenburg told SportsMail: “VAR and Michael Oliver made the correct call in allowing Fabinho’s early goal to stand, although I disagree with the reasoning the Premier League have provided. “There were strong suggestions at the time that the effort should be disallowed and a penalty awarded to Manchester City because Trent Alexander-Arnold had handled at the other end moments before the goal. “However, it is the arm of Manchester City forward Bernardo Silva that deflects the ball onto Alexander-Arnold and that is why, for me, play should not be brought back. “If Silva’s arm does not divert the ball, then yes, I believe a penalty should have been awarded as Alexander-Arnold’s arm is in an unnatural position and he is using it to make himself bigger.” (function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = ‘https://connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v3.2&appId=420332301344305&autoLogAppEvents=1’; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = ‘https://connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v3.2&appId=181005951975036&autoLogAppEvents=1’; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

EPL: What Mourinho, Souness said about VAR, referee’s decision denying Man City penalty in 3-1 loss to Liverpool

November 10, 2019 Loadedrace 0

Former Manchester United and Newcastle United managers, Jose Mourinho and Graeme Souness have blasted the Premier League for inconsistency. They were reacting to VAR and referee’s decision not to penalise Trent Alexander-Arnold for handball in the build-up to Liverpool’s opening goal against Manchester City on Sunday. Fabinho fired Liverpool in front after six minutes, however, there was initial controversy following City’s appeal for handball moments earlier. With City on the attack, the ball appeared to have struck the hand of Alexander-Arnold in the Liverpool area which led to huge protests from City, particularly Sergio Aguero. However, the referee waved on and Liverpool broke down the other end leading to Fabinho unleashing a cracking strike from the edge of the area to put the Reds ahead. Souness and Mourinho added that whilst the handball was debatable, the inconsistencies of the decision would frustrate them the most. Mourinho told Sky Sports, “That’s the problem, the inconsistency. Next week, a similar situation, it will be a penalty.” Souness added, “We’re all in the same boat here. We’ve all seen them given, we’ve all seen them not given.” (function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = ‘https://connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v3.2&appId=420332301344305&autoLogAppEvents=1’; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = ‘https://connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v3.2&appId=181005951975036&autoLogAppEvents=1’; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));
