November 12, 2019 Loadedrace 0

Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa has said that Gernot Rohr’s men will do everything possible to beat Benin Republic in Wednesday’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier’s clash in Uyo. The former Leicester City star, who missed Nigeria’s last two friendly matches against Ukraine and Brazil due to injury, said he was delighted to be back as he hopes to feature for the 2019 AFCON bronze winners against the Squirrels.   “I’m very happy to be back from injury. Over 2 months now, I’ve not played football but thank God, finally, I’m back, so I’m happy,” Musa was quoted by Soccernet as telling reporters at Super Eagles’ training camp in Uyo on Monday ahead of Nigeria’s clash with Benin on Wednesday. “Any time any minute the coach wants me to play, I’m ready and ready to go. “As you can see, we don’t have much time with the team, we’ve just had our first training session with the players. “Tomorrow we will have the team together. So I know it’s a very difficult game but we know the task ahead of us, so we will have to do our best to win the first game (against Benin).” Also speaking, Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen said he is hundred per cent ready to face Benin Republic, adding that he will try to score goals against the visitors. “I am 100% ready,” Osimhen said. “Of course I’ll try to get the goals for the team but I’m not the only striker that can score. We also have Samuel Chukwueze and Samuel Kalu and of course, our captain (Ahmed Musa) is back, so confidence in the camp is really high. “So, we’re looking forward to the game. “It feels good to be back (in Nigeria). It’s home for us always and we are ready to give our best and make the fans happy.” “We have been together for almost two years now and the coaches know the qualities of each of the players, so I think we will be ready.” The kick-off time for the match is 5pm. November 12, 2019 Loadedrace 0

England manager, Gareth Southgate, will not select Raheem Sterling, for Thursday’s Euro 2020 qualifier against Montenegro, following an incident at their St George’s Park training base. The FA, in a statement, said Sterling has been dropped because of a “disturbance in a private team area at St. George’s Park” that occurred on Monday. The incident is reported to have involved Joe Gomez, with both players having clashed during Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Manchester City on Sunday. However, Sterling is set to remain with the squad and could play in England’s upcoming match against Kosovo. “We have taken the decision to not consider Raheem for the match against Montenegro on Thursday. “One of the great challenges and strengths for us is that we’ve been able to separate club rivalries from the national team. Unfortunately, the emotions of yesterday’s game were still raw. “My feeling is that the right thing for the team is the action we have taken. Now that the decision has been made with the agreement of the entire squad, it’s important that we support the players and focus on Thursday night,” manager Gareth Southgate said: (function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = ‘https://connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v3.2&appId=420332301344305&autoLogAppEvents=1’; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = ‘https://connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v3.2&appId=181005951975036&autoLogAppEvents=1’; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

EPL: What Arsenal chiefs told staff about Unai Emery’s future on Monday

November 11, 2019 Loadedrace 0

Arsenal have publicly backed under-fire manager, Unai Emery, the UK Mirror reports. This happened on Monday, when the club’s head of football Raul Sanllehi and managing director, Vinai Venkatesham, met staff at a pre-planned get together for 200 staff. They admitted that they do “need to improve” but still “firmly believe” Emery is the right man for the job. The Gunners currently sit in sixth place and are eight points off Champions League places. However, the Arsenal hierarchy told staff: “We are as disappointed as everyone else with both our results and performances at this stage of the season. We share the frustration with our fans, Unai, players and all our staff as they are not at the level we want or expect. “Things need to improve to meet our objectives for the season, and we firmly believe Unai is the right man for the job, together with the backroom team we have in place. We are all working intensively behind the scenes to turn things around and are confident we will. “We never take our fantastic support for granted. We hope we can all stick together and get behind the team in this challenging period, as together we are stronger.” (function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = ‘https://connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v3.2&appId=420332301344305&autoLogAppEvents=1’; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = ‘https://connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v3.2&appId=181005951975036&autoLogAppEvents=1’; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

EPL: Midfielder Lampard wants to sign for Chelsea revealed

November 11, 2019 Loadedrace 0

Chelsea boss, Frank Lampard, wants to sign Lazio midfielder, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic if the Blues’ FIFA-imposed transfer ban is lifted before the January transfer window, according to the Daily Mirror. DAILY POST had reported a few days ago that the Court of Arbitration for Sport, CAS, has announced that Chelsea’s appeal against a transfer ban by the Federation of International Football Association, FIFA, for breaking rules to sign youth players from abroad will be heard on November 20. FIFA imposed the ban on the Premier League giants after they were found to have broken rules regarding the registering of young players. However, Lampard would be able to make new signings in January if Chelsea’s appeal is successful. Lampard wants to bolster his midfield options for the second half of the season with Ross Barkley and Ruben Loftus-Cheek currently injured. Milinkovic-Savic has been impressive for Lazio so far this season. He was previously linked with a move to Manchester United. EPL: What Guardiola told Man City players at half-time, full-time in 3-1 defeat at Liverpool

November 11, 2019 Loadedrace 0

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has revealed what he told his players during the half-time and full-time of their 3-1 defeat against Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday at Anfield. Goals from Fabinho, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane ensured Liverpool defeated Man City. However, Bernado Silva did score for Pep Guardiola’s side at Anfield. Speaking on what he told his players, Guardiola was quoted by Liverpool Echo as saying: “I don’t have regrets, if the players know I’m not happy then I tell them but I told them at half-time and full-time: ‘Heads up guys, don’t use social media to give your thoughts about what happened in some departments. Talk about football and how good it was.” The defeat against Liverpool means Guardiola’s men are now in fourth position on the Premier League table with 25 points from 12 games. Man City will now take on Chelsea in their next Premier League fixture on November 23 after the international break. EPL: Man City’s Mahrez reveals what prevented him from joining Arsenal

November 11, 2019 Loadedrace 0

Manchester City star, Riyad Mahrez, has revealed that Leicester City stopped him from joining Arsenal in 2016 during his time with the Foxes. The Algerian captain was linked with a move to Arsenal in 2016 but remained at Leicester for another two seasons before joining Pep Guardiola’s side for £60million. Speaking with France Football, Mahrez said: “After the title, if I’d left for a top team, it wouldn’t have been the same story. “For me, it’s clear that I lost two years at the highest level. I lost two years! Because instead of arriving at City at 27, I could have been there at 24, 25. “Leicester blocked me. They told me: ‘You’re not leaving, you’re not leaving’. “My agent had spoken to [Arsene] Wenger who really wanted me. It was nearly all done with Arsenal in 2016. I was really frustrated. “It wasn’t easy to go from being the best player in the Premier League to being a part of a team fighting against relegation. “It’s not the same job. Everyone is waiting for you around the corner.” (function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = ‘https://connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v3.2&appId=420332301344305&autoLogAppEvents=1’; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = ‘https://connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v3.2&appId=181005951975036&autoLogAppEvents=1’; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

EPL: Guardiola might leave England because of VAR

November 11, 2019 Loadedrace 0

Former Manchester City forward, Trevor Sinclair, has claimed manager Pep Guardiola could leave the Premier League, if Video Assistant Referees (VAR) continue with controversial decisions. City were defeated 3-1 by Liverpool on Sunday, leaving them nine points behind the leaders. Guardiola’s men thought they should have gotten a penalty in the early stages of the game, when Trent Alexander-Arnold appeared to handle the ball in the box. But referee Michael Oliver waved play on, before Liverpool opened scoring through Fabinho. VAR was used again to check whether Salah was onside for the second goal, before it was awarded. There was also a late appeal for a penalty, after Raheem Sterling’s cross hit Alexander-Arnold on the arm. Guardiola vented his frustrations at the match officials on the touchline and after the game. “The Premier League has got a fantastic brand and I think it’s been affected negatively by this VAR situation. “It’s not a better spectacle now because VAR has been brought in. “Pep wants clarity to what the rules are, because at the moment the fans, players and managers haven’t got a clue. This is my fear, that if this continues managers like Pep and the best players are going to start leaving the Premier League. “If it continues to be this inconsistent, people are going to start leaving the Premier League and go to different leagues. “I think Pep is right on the cusp. The Premier League is so good because we get the very best managers who attract the very best players. “If you want to go to a top club, you look at who the manager is there. That’s how City have got the players they have got – because of Pep. “Now, if managers start leaving the Premier League because there’s no consistency and it’s a flawed system, I think they’re in danger of ruining what they’ve produced over the last 25 years in the Premier League,” Sinclair told TalkSport. Serie A: Capello blasts Cristiano Ronaldo after Juventus’ 1-0 win over AC Milan

November 11, 2019 Loadedrace 0

Former Italy and England national team coach, Fabio Capello, has criticised Juventus forward, Cristiano Ronaldo after Maurizio Sarri’s men defeated AC Milan 1-0 in the Serie A on Sunday. Ronaldo reacted angrily after being replaced by Paulo Dybala in the 55th minute during the encounter and immediately made his way up the tunnel. The 34-year-old also left the stadium three minutes to the end of the match. But. Capello, Who supported Juventus manager, Maurizio Sarri’s decision to substitute Ronaldo, said that the Portugal international had not dribbled past anyone in the last three years. “[Cristiano] is a great champion, nobody argues with that, but he hasn’t dribbled past anyone in the last three years,” Capello told Sky Sport Italia. “At the moment, he isn’t at his best and it is normal to replace him. Sarri doesn’t need to be brave or show his personality to make that change. “It’s not nice that he didn’t sit on the bench [after being taken off] and argued with Sarri. “One has to be a champion even when he is replaced, not only when things are going well. He must respect his team-mates.” Juventus will now take on Atalanta in their next Serie A fixture. EPL: Redknapp reveals why Liverpool may not win Premier League title

November 11, 2019 Loadedrace 0

Former Premier League star, Jamie Redknapp has insisted that “crazy injuries” could still prevent Liverpool from winning the league title this season despite their crucial victory over Manchester City. Liverpool defeated the defending champions 3-1 at Anfield on Sunday to maintain their unbeaten record and move eight points clear at the top of the table. Goals from Fabinho, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane saw Jurgen Klopp’s side beat the Citizens, despite Bernardo Silva’s late strike and City creating a number of chances. Redknapp admitted title is now Liverpool’s to lose but added that the Reds could still falter if the squad is hit by a number of injuries. “It is Liverpool’s to lose,’ Redknapp told the Daily Mail. “I said that last month, after Manchester City lost 2-0 at home to Wolves and they beat Leicester 2-1, and yesterday’s victory at Anfield only reinforced my beliefs. “Nine points is a big gap. Barring any crazy injuries, Liverpool are well on their way to being crowned champions, with Jordan Henderson the man who would lift the trophy come May. “It feels as if the force is with Liverpool, and the player I am most pleased for is their captain, Jordan Henderson. “The third goal killed Sunday’s contest and it was a sublime cross from the 29-year-old midfielder, making his 250th Premier League appearance for the Reds, that set it up. “Claudio Bravo did not know whether to come or go. In the end, City’s stand-in goalkeeper wound up under Henderson’s cross, and Mane applied the finishing touch with his head. “Job done. Henderson made that ball look easy, and it came two weeks after he scored a vital equaliser in their 2-1 win over Tottenham. “The England midfielder was always going to have difficulty in winning everyone over, because he is not Steven Gerrard. “But Liverpool’s current skipper, who led them to victory in the Champions League last season, is performing brilliantly for his team. “He answers every question asked of him.” (function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = ‘https://connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v3.2&appId=420332301344305&autoLogAppEvents=1’; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = ‘https://connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v3.2&appId=181005951975036&autoLogAppEvents=1’; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

EPL: Lacazette opens up on problem in Arsenal dressing room, speaks on Emery

Arsenal striker, Alexandre Lacazette, has admitted that he and his team-mates are low on confidence. The Gunners have only won once in their last six Premier League matches. The run sees them in sixth place, eight points off Champions League spots and puts manager Unai Emery under pressure. However, Lacazette, speaking to the UK Mirror, insists Emery is not to blame for the poor form. “Last season when we were unbeaten in 20 games in a row, nobody said anything about the coach or manager. “We miss confidence and we need the international break. “I hope we are going to come back well. We want to be top four, of course. “Now we are nine points behind Chelsea and Leicester and it is going to be hard, but everything is possible in football,” Lacazette said. The Reds beat champions Manchester City 3-1 at Anfield, thanks to goals from Fabinho, Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane. Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Klopp encouraged his players to embrace their position as the top team in the country. “We don’t feel any pressure, to be honest – if you are with us, then nine points is a positive. “Other people will 100% say, and have said already, that from now on Liverpool can only lose it. “That’s a very negative approach, but I can promise you that we don’t care,” Klopp said. EPL: Arsenal players at war with Unai Emery over Aubameyang

The Arsenal squad is not in full support of manager Unai Emery’s decision, to strip Granit Xhaka of the Arsenal captaincy and hand it to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Xhaka was removed as skipper, after clashing with fans in last month’s 2-2 draw at home to Crystal Palace. According to The Athletic, some players within the squad, feel that the Swiss midfielder was “thrown under the bus” by Emery and do not support the choice of Aubameyang as his replacement. Although the players were given the opportunity to vote on their captain after Laurent Koscielny left for Bordeaux, they were not consulted at all when Aubameyang was named captain. Most of them only found out, when he announced the news at a press conference, before their Europa League fixture against Vitoria. NPFL: Sunshine Stars’ coach, Dogo blames management over Warri Wolves draw

The Technical Adviser of Sunshine Stars Football Club, Kabiru Dogo has attributed the poor outing of the team against visiting Warri Wolves to revolving issues within the Club’s management. Dogo disclosed this at the Akure township stadium during the post-match interview after playing a one-all draw on Sunday. At the week 2, Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, Charles Upele had put Warri Wolves ahead in the 29th minute, through a header from a corner before Sunshine Stars forward, Israel Abia restored parity after slicing the ball from the edge of the box. All efforts by the home team to ensure a maximum of 3 points proved abortive. In his post-match press conference, when asked why there were no new signings for the team in the new season, Dogo stated that the management of the team was in the best position to answer the question. “Anybody that is here today will know that despite that we managed to play, just that unfortunately, the result didn’t speak of the performance of the two teams. “We signed some new players, unfortunately, there are some problem logistically, the management will tell you better on that, for now, this is what I have on the ground. “Anybody that follows the team, will know that even in the preseason we did well the problem of Sunshine is more than what we could see. “The people of Ondo State should look more inward for this team and they should know that this team belongs to all Ondo State people, am just appealing,” he said. Dogo also urged the organizers of the league to follow the example of Morroco and try to introduce Video Assistant Referee (VAR) to aid referee decisions. Meanwhile, the Coach of Warri Wolves, Evans Ogenyi, hailed the performance of his boys for having a decent game and picking a point. “We had a decent game against Sunshine Stars, no team is a pushover in NPFL. Any game in the Premier League can go either side. I played draw at home too in the matchday one “I told my boys that the only way we can redeem ourselves is to come here to get a good result. Sunshine can go away to win too. I want to commend the NRA, LMC for reforming the league.” (function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = ‘https://connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v3.2&appId=420332301344305&autoLogAppEvents=1’; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = ‘https://connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&version=v3.2&appId=181005951975036&autoLogAppEvents=1’; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));
